| Abstract: |
| University of Waterloo（UW）is distinguished for its mathematic and engineering achievements in the whole North America，including the origin of the computer language Fortran and computer algebraic system Maple. Lots of famous high -tech companies，such as Microsoft，Google and IBM，have long term and good cooperation with UW. This paper analyzes the unique characteristics of the higher education system of UW，such as the Co - operative education plan，undergraduate and graduate education system and research，etc. Based on the actual research experience in UW，the authors present some novel methods in doing research in UW. |
